I’m Levi Shepherd, a licensed commercial general contractor and real estate developer with over 20 years of hands-on experience in residential, commercial, and industrial construction. Construction has been a core part of my life since the beginning of my career in masonry, where I learned the value of hard work, precision, and leadership from the ground up. Over the years, I’ve worked in nearly every phase of construction—from labor and equipment operation to quality control, project management, estimating, and full-scale development.
I earned my degree in Construction Management with a minor in Business Management from Western Carolina University, where I also served as President of the Construction Management Club. I hold NASCLA accreditation as a licensed commercial general contractor and maintain advanced technical certifications, including D1.1 FCAW structural welding certification.
My professional background includes managing high-end custom homes, multi-family developments, industrial construction, and large-scale commercial projects. During my time with Harkins Builders, I served as Project Manager and Superintendent on a 222-unit apartment development in Charlotte, overseeing critical scopes including concrete, framing, structural steel, masonry, MEP systems, and hundreds of city and third party inspections from project start to completion.
As the owner of Shepherd Construction & Properties, LLC, I combine construction expertise with strategic development and investment. I have successfully built, renovated, and managed multiple residential properties, turning undervalued land and distressed assets into profitable long-term investments. As I have funded my own development, I am very familiar with not only construction costs, but all infrastructure expenses as well. My projects range from ground-up home construction to complex rehabilitation and infrastructure redevelopment.
In addition to construction and development, I own and manage a 3,000-tree Christmas tree farm, which reflects the same long-term mindset I bring to every project: patience, planning, stewardship, and consistent execution.
What sets me apart is that I understand construction from every angle—builder, manager, investor, and owner. I’m deeply involved in every stage of a project, from initial planning and budgeting to execution and final delivery. Whether developing a property, managing a build, or evaluating an investment opportunity, my focus remains the same: quality, efficiency, and creating lasting value.

We started in The High Country of North Carolina — a region where craftsmanship still matters and word of mouth is everything. Over the years we've expanded our reach to the Greater Charlotte area, bringing the same owner-operated accountability to every project we take on.
